Education

I consider myself a life-long learner and will always continue my education to learn more about my world and become a better teacher. Each year I take continuing education courses in science, art, reading, math and writing so that I can learn new strategies and activities that will allow my students to have the best possible experience here at Waterloo.

Masters Degree in Education, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages ), Grand Canyon University

Multiple Subject Credential, CSU Stanislaus

Bachelor of Arts, Government with a minor in Business Administration, CSU, Sacramento

Experience

I feel lucky that I began my career here at Waterloo, student teaching in a sixth grade class with Mrs. Hicks. The following year I did a job share in sixth grade with Mrs. McCormack. That is when a fifth grade position opened up, and what I have been teaching ever since.

I enjoy my grade level: I love the kids, the curriculum and of course....Science Camp!

Bio

I have lived in the Stockton/Linden area my whole life. I attended Lottie Grunsky, Fremont Middle School and Lincoln High School, but I have also always felt like a part of the Linden community. As a young child I rode my go-cart around the slab on our property, and played on my grandparent's ranch...helping to care for the chickens and garden. I also attended Holy Cross Church and have always been a fan of the Cherry Festival!

Now a days I live with my husband, John, in our home in Spanos. We have been married for two years and have four furry children. Our oldest is Rocky, the gray tabby. Our next three are named after characters from our favorite tv show...Entourage. Ari, the beagle, E the cat and Chase the puppy. We are looking forward to adding non-furry children to our family, but in the meantime we are enjoying the vacations and trips that we are able to take (and the extra time for ourselves that parents just don't get!)

When I am not doing something for my class, I enjoy spending time with my husband. We like to watch tv, movies and sporting events.... the A's, Warriors and all the Stockton local teams. The rivalry is in football. I love the 49ers and John is a Cowboys fan. Last year we got to see a game in the new stadium! We spend a lot of time laughing at our pets....they are hilarious!

I am proud to say that I am a  4-H leader for Linden-Peters. I joined so that I could get my nephew, Giovanni, involved. He is in Kindergarten at Linden El. I hope that he enjoys 4-H as much as I did when I was growing up. Right now we are Clovers, and can't wait to try out some of the projects!

I am an avid fan of Facebook and I love to read....I am currently reading through the BBC book list. My favorites are The Grapes of Wrath, the Little House series, and anything by Nicholas Sparks.
